Run Line
MLB's version of a point spread, always set at ±1.5 runs. Lengthens favorite payouts and shortens underdog payouts.
The run line is the MLB equivalent of a point spread, but it’s fixed at ±1.5 runs every game.
Example: Brewers -1.5 (+130) vs. Cubs +1.5 (-150)
- Brewers must win by 2+ runs to cover -1.5
- Cubs win, or lose by exactly 1, to cover +1.5
Because the margin is small in a low-scoring sport, the price moves sharply. Heavy moneyline favorites become plus-money on the run line; plus-money dogs become minus-money on the run line.
Use the run line when you believe a favorite will dominate, or when you want a safer way to back a plus-money dog.
