Puck Line
NHL's version of a point spread, always set at ±1.5 goals. The hockey equivalent of the MLB run line.
The puck line is the NHL’s fixed-margin spread, always set at ±1.5 goals.
Example: Wild -1.5 (+150) vs. Blackhawks +1.5 (-180)
- Wild must win by 2+ goals to cover -1.5
- Blackhawks win, or lose by 1, to cover +1.5
Because goals are scarce, +1.5 underdog tickets cash often; empty-net goals and one-goal finishes both work in your favor on the dog side.
The puck line is one of the most popular ways to bet a heavy moneyline favorite at plus-money.
