Bet Type

Moneyline

Also known as: ML

A straight win/loss bet with no spread. Priced in American odds (-150, +200).

A moneyline bet is the simplest wager: pick the winner. No spread, no handicap. The complexity is in the odds.

  • Negative number = favorite. -150 means risk $150 to win $100.
  • Positive number = underdog. +200 means $100 wins $200.

Used heavily in MLB and NHL where the margin of victory is too small for a meaningful spread. Used as an alternative in NFL/NBA when you like a plus-money underdog.
