Bet Type

Prop Bet

Also known as: props, proposition bet

A bet on individual player or event outcomes; passing yards, anytime TD, first scorer. Not the game result.

A proposition bet (“prop”) is a wager on something other than the final game result. Most are player-level over/unders or yes/no propositions.

Common types:

  • Player props: Passing yards over/under, anytime TD, points/rebounds/assists
  • Game props: First TD, race to 10 points, total field goals
  • Specialty props: Coin toss, color of Gatorade dump, Super Bowl national anthem length

Props carry higher juice than spreads and totals (often -115 to -120 vs. -110) because the book has less data to price them precisely.
